The above first image is the entire official image as officially posted except reduced very slightly in size to fit my reporting format and I haven't done anything else in the image including not even sharpening it up some. The color you see here is exactly as officially posted and termed "...approximately true color view..." This image pretty much says it all, at least it does in my opinion and someone at JPL may have very well thought so too. Why? Well because this image was apparently never meant to be posted. There is a whole story of context information providing insight accompanying this visual evidence and you should be aware of it. Here's the story.
It seems that on 12/5/2005 at the JPL website under Rover Opportunity's panorama science data imaging an article titled "Rim of Erebus" along with the image you see above was posted. A long time viewer of my work who prefers anonymity first discovered this when it was posted and came to the personal conclusion that it looked like grass. I'm told by the viewer that the official article and image could not be accessed the next night or thereafter and so the situation at that point was brought to my attention. The link to the initial official 12/5/05 article and image location is as appears below but note that now something else titled "Opportunity's 'Olympia' Panorama" has been substituted there on the 12/5/05 date.

Thanks to this viewer's prompt action in bringing this to my attention, I acted quickly enough and was able to track down and capture the image and accompanying article even though it had of course been removed from the above main JPL website link. You see, all this happened over the 2005 Christmas and New Year holidays when I suspect like many others the secrecy types were not fully staffed at work and no doubt not by their top people either and there may have been a certain amount of ineptness to go around as well. So, although the originally posted "Rim of Erebus" material at the above link for date 12/5/05 had been removed from their main Rover Opportunity panorama image site and another different report substituted in its place, these people apparently may have forgotten or perhaps didn't know(?) that bots automatically pick up and post this same material at the companion NASA-JPL-CalTech website at the address link below. In fact I was able to access it there just before there started to be problems with me being able to access the site.

I'm not sure but, if you do attempt access to the above link, you may get an error message and of course nothing will come up or maybe the text and page graphics will load but not the science data imaging. At least that is what happened to me when I tried repeatedly to access it over several weeks. You will be interested to know that I did however successfully access the site through other different computers getting through just fine and just now have again started getting in again from my computer. It appears very likely that the secrecy agenda may have selectively shut me out personally for a while from the main JPL website for the Rover data, at least with respect to accessing the science data imaging. Retribution? Sending me a warning not to post this report? Preventing me from finding something else? Just a technical aberration? Who knows but obviously suspicion abounds.
Meanwhile, the removed material was also posted at the NASA Planetary PhotoJournal website address at the address link below that JPL apparently also maintains for NASA and that one was still available also with the theoretically better quality TIFF imaging released to the public which I of course obtained. As I write this report, the link below continues to work for me from my location.

On the other hand, just in case the above two JPL/NASA links are removed by the time this report is posted or perhaps subsequently later somewhere down the line, this link HERE displays at least the captured NASA PhotoJournal web page intact as proof of this material's existence. At one of these links you will at least be able to determine the nature of the official article text associated with this image and that they use the terms "...approximately true-color view..." as well as verify the content of the image and the color of the anomalous evidence itself and that my first and fourth images here in this report are duplicates of this material.
This business was all sort of amusing to me, especially since I had moved quick enough and was lucky enough to get the evidence documented regardless of what they did from that point on. Of course they monitor everything I do and so in my email communication with the original discoverer I communicated with the viewer and thereby to them that I would just sit on this material until after the holidays and wait and see what they would do giving them no clue as to what I intended to do. I often do this sort of communicating to them through my email with others because I know they are reading every word I say and I might as well take some advantage of it.
Obviously, they had a dilemma because, via my communication telling them as much, they knew that I had obtained the removed material and yet I was leaving the next move to them rather than giving them the opportunity to respond to what ever I did with a more specific countermove. It is the way things are in this field of endeavor and anyone not prepared to deal with this sort of slipping and sliding frustration without getting emotionally reactive to it will soon enough look down the barrel of failure. By doing this I was trying to force them into leaving some of this material posted on the Web rather than have me expose them making everything completely disappear. After all the evidence here is strong and incredible and will cause further erosion of the secrecy agenda but no doubt isn't strong enough by itself to convince the segment of the mainstream public and scientists that are determined not to look at must less face these issues.
They have since then made their decision and their next move is to post the material now labeled "On the Rim of Erebus" in the 1/4/2006 very first 2006 time slot at the URL address below. Check it out there. The next image image below demonstrates what you will be seeing there.

As you can see in the above second image here, although the color is still green and suggestive, the tactic of choice is to push the offending evidence further off into the more distant background where resolution is much more compromised and where the green carpeting evidence cannot be more closely examined. Meanwhile, the closer mid-terrain area is occupied by rocky cracked geological surfaces and the closest material at the bottom of the image is various upper surfaces of the MER-B Opportunity Rover itself.
From the obfuscation point of view, the choice is perhaps not the best but adequate enough in general to obscure the green color evidence. This is especially true considering the perception density of the science and academic communities viewing this material and their demonstrated willingness to overlook just about anything that might not fit the party line. For example, the "... approximately true color view..."must just be very strange looking green "sand" dunes or a technical mistake. No matter, what is an incredibly inept error in judgment is the choice of putting a very close view of the Opportunity Rover top surfaces into the image lower closer view where resolution is better and where we can get a decent look at some significant rover details as you can see in the next image below.
Look closely at the rover surfaces in the above third image demonstrating a much closer view of a portion of the rover various top surfaces. Note the incredibly clean condition of this rover visual as though it just rolled out of the lab or showroom. Every square inch of the rover surfaces (including others not shown here) are just like this. Now this is a piece of equipment that has theoretically been in Mars open environs and its elements many long months 100% of the time and not parked even temporarily in some protected garage or lab. Admirably it is alleged to have been in operation in these open supposedly dry dusty environs churning around in rough dry dusty terrain now well past its expected life span. Further, most of what we see are horizontal gravity dust catching prone surfaces with many additional catch nooks and crannies that could be expected to be at the very least considerable dust catchers if not some outright debris.
Now you know where I'm going with this don't you? Look for yourself and see what you see and think. Are we to believe that this now older used piece of equipment that's been through the mill exposed around the clock in the rigors of the Mars terrain and theoretically rapidly approaching the end of its useful service life in this supposedly severe dry dusty environment was run through a Martian vacuum and air pressure bath before being presented for this photo-op? I don't know about you but I'm insulted that anyone could try to palm this image evidence off as remotely believable. It is really inept business and demonstrates just how dumb they believe us all to be in the great unwashed masses. Maybe someone should have waited for the real brains to return from the holidays or alternatively maybe someone's brain up there was temporarily on holiday?
In all fairness I must tell you that some of the reason this looks so clean is because the bulk of the upper surfaces are made up of solar panels and each of the many solar cells is covered over and hidden by very fine smudge image tampering mapping and conforming to the shape of each cell. It has been so since the beginning of the imaging for both Spirit and Opportunity rovers. In other words, these applications cover not only the solar cells but anything on them as well produced by the environment. Even so, look very closely at all the other equipment small nooks and crannies and you will see the absence of any dust conditions there as well. It is telling evidence including of ineptness in manipulating this image.
Well, so much for the background on this story. All of this slipping and sliding business itself points out the presence of a secrecy agenda. It's interesting and it's certainly evidence but let's get back to the image evidence that was removed. The above fourth image demonstrates a 150% closer view of a portion of the green carpeting evidence from the original now removed science data image.
Note the green evidence's general fuzzy but still rough texture and especially the detail of the small patch the blue arrow is pointing to where individual tuffs of material can be better seen. Certainly looks about as much like carpeting and spreading plant life to me as I suspect we're ever going to see out of this MER-A/B rover imaging. One thing is for sure, this material's rough but very uniform texture covering broad areas here doesn't remotely resemble finer sediment or rocky accumulations just in case someone might like to interpret this evidence as just sediment "dune" accumulations mistakenly colored green by technical error. Also, the little pile of three small round hard surface cylinders pointed out by the red arrow is very suggestive of being metal and representing artificiality.
As you can clearly see in the above fifth relatively smaller image providing a 250% closer view from the original higher detail TIFF image, this is a scene where the finer sediment accumulations have been selectively covered over by flourishing and spreading very low profile but upright same species green ground-cover type plant life taking advantage of the more sediment covered terrain, engulfing it, and hiding the true more light reflective geological terrain surfaces from view. Note to that, although with lesser and more sporadic success, it also invades the smaller depression cracks and seams between the rocks where sediment collects there, again clearly characterized by a upright elevated form, and leaving the more inhospitable bare upper rock surfaces free of its growth. That appears to be behavior very characteristic of invasive plant life to me.
The blue arrows again point out some of the more obvious patches of plant life evidence and its many upright individual tuft characteristics while the single red arrow points out the three cylinder objects. This is powerful telling evidence of plant life on Mars and it flies right in the face of the official consensus opinion of what this distant planet is all about. Further, this closer view clearly demonstrates that there can be no confusing this green color light absorbing evidence with the much brighter light reflective rock or sediment geological evidence or, for that matter, with any kind of image tampering applications or image artifacts. It is clearly just what it appears to be.
This powerful telling insight is provided by an image with a close enough view that was no doubt never suppose to be posted. Alone the official image is suggestive of possible life but not much more than that in that resolution. Such green but distantly seen evidence where it is further in the background is titillating but can't really get beyond that and is in that way still safe for the secrecy agenda. The highly suggestive green color was a mistake by initially putting the concept of vegetation in a researcher's head but it is really the fact that this particular image provided a view close enough view of the green color evidence that allowed the 250% zoom examination factor that provides the real and unmistakable revelation.
This alone should not qualify as the ultimate smoking gun evidence because that place should be occupied by this whole accumulative anomalous evidence record you see growing here at this website as well as that yet to be released here offering even more incredible insight into some planetary truths around us. Still, it is very strong stuff and should at least qualify as a number of nails in the coffin of secrecy.
You can understand why this particular image was so quickly removed and other images presented putting this type of evidence in the distant background where it cannot be examined closer due to severe JPEG compression in the official data resulting in very poor imaging quality that does not allow the necessary close examination. You can also perhaps now understand why I was trying to force the secrecy agenda to leave up this particular image posted in places other than JPL, especially at the NASA PhotoJournal website where the slightly better quality TIFF image is provided. Its continued presence there will allow the most skeptical researchers to access it and verify for themselves the evidence just as I have presented it here. If it is now subsequently removed following this report, both NASA and JPL will then have more than one black eye off of this deal and a great deal to be held accountable for.
It is truly a shame that such an obfuscation situation exists in the planetary exploration science data as made available for research outside the secrecy ranks and that no one with influence makes a racket about this or can even appears to recognize that this situation exists at all. Unfortunately, that's the way it is as the secrecy agenda continues to treat public property, information and funds as though it is their own decade after decade. It is not legally theirs, it is the public's and the public should insist on truth in the release of this exploratory data. Just as long as that doesn't happen, then dangerous ignorance prevails and risk steadily increases.
AN ADDITIONAL MESSAGE TO THE SECRECY AGENDA
Don't blame your minions for letting this borderline image slip through to public availability. Considering the many thousands of images handled, a few mistakes like this one and others for example like my Report #084 based on the ESA imaging origin "Hale Crater Civilization Evidence" are mathematically inevitable and cannot be avoided. It is the nature of secrecy and of what you are still trying blindly to do with it. You have much more to worry about from the time factor playing out than occasional aberrational blips like this because time is running out for secrecy itself.
As this situation continues over long periods of time spanning decades, new generations grow up in your ranks trained to assume that this state of affairs and this manipulation of the public that so far supports them is normal. But, believe me, it isn't remotely normal. Needless to say, under the influence of this false artificially prolonged state of affairs, your secrecy agenda gradually looses sight of the fact that this secrecy supposedly started out as a temporary situation for the good of the public that you are suppose to serve pending obtaining better answers via delay and that one day there would be a planned reversal and a sharing of information with the public of their own information that they legally own and paid for.
My advise to you for the beginning of this new 2006 year is this.
Listen at least to your own objective model predictions and stop procrastinating. Truth is ultimately inevitable and time is running out. As evidence begins to mount steadily eroding secrecy and revealing the direction of truth, do less blind resisting and more rational jumping on the wave well before the erosion reaches critical mass and the perception of womb like safe but false fabric of secrecy drops suddenly away from under us ALL, including you. Ride the wave at its beginning stages rather than be carried along by its aftermath and help lead and direct it toward positions less fraught with peril represented by growing public rationality, awareness, and eventual participation.
Remember, the last thing that you want is a widening irreparable schism and/or emotional reactive ignorant partners and you're going to get partners whether you want them or not. The only way you're going to get calmer rational partners working to adapt to change and mitigate upheaval potential is to demonstrate rationality yourself and create them through awareness and education pushing back this oh so dangerous blind ignorance so fertile with the potential for emotional reactive behavior. The fabric of secrecy is beginning to look more and more like Swiss cheese and resistance to the inevitable is growing more and more futile. Wake up to this reality! You have the brain power for it.
This is a beginning year 2006 shot across the bow. Time is running out. Together we can cooperatively handle change but apart the risks rise dramatically as the potential of ignorance and emotional responses risks prevailing! Accept the cooperative outstretched hand and make a start now before it is too late to productively lead rather than inadequately follow.
