inverted back in the 1st image plastering down, mimicking, & faking the look of terrain

The image below is a lone sample from the old 1970s Viking Mars data demonstrating very obvious 30 year old technology
smudge coating treatments blanketing large fields of terrain. The sharp boundary edges are so well defined because
different types of tampering applications were applied in the individual image strips &, when the strips were joined
together, the visually differing tampering fields contrasted sharply with each other along the boundary edges.
